Thrift store happiness in Zwolle (NL)

Stichting Kringloop Zwolle heeft twee filialen in Zwolle. Toen ik laatst voor een afspraak in deze leuke stad moest zijn heb ik daarna beide filialen bezocht. Het ene filiaal is op loopafstand van het hoofdstation gevestigd, aan de Nieuwe Veerallee 12. Het andere filiaal is niet lopend te bereiken, maar ik had mijn vouwfiets mee. Deze winkel, aan de Nieuwe Deventerweg 6, kun je ook met stadsbus 4 vanaf het station bereiken.

Stichting Kringloop Zwolle (the Foundation for Recycling Zwolle) owns two thrift stores in Zwolle. When I had an appointment in this nice city, I also visited both shops. The first one is a short walk from Zwolle train station, at the Nieuwe Veerallee 12. The other shop isn't at walking distance, but I took my folding bike. This store, at the Nieuwe Deventerweg 6, is also accessable by taking citybus number 4.

Meestal als ik een bezoekje breng aan de kringloopwinkel koop ik iets voor mezelf en soms voor vriendinnen. Maar deze keer vond ik iets voor mijn vriend! Hij verzamelt voetbalshirtjes, -sjaaltjes en -speldjes van clubs van over de hele wereld. Deze twee sjaals had hij nog niet, dus die gingen mee naar huis.

Most of the times when I visit a thrift store I buy something for myself, and sometimes for friends. But this time I found something for my boyfriend! He collects soccershirts, -scarfs and -pins from clubs all over the world. These two scarfs were not in his collection yet, so I took them home.

Beide winkels in Zwolle hebben een ruime kledingafdeling, met kleding van goede kwaliteit. De meeste kledingstukken zijn weliswaar gedragen, maar alles zag er nog erg mooi uit. Ik heb een trui voor mezelf gekocht, maar ik krijg de kleur niet goed op de foto. Het is een mosterdgele trui en eigenlijk is hij te kort voor mij, maar ik heb er leuke recykleerplannen mee. Wordt vervolgd, dus :-)

In both shops in Zwolle there is a large clothing department, with good quaity clothes. Most of the clothing is second-hand, but everything still looked really nice. I bought this sweater for myself, but it is hard to show you the true colour by a picture. The sweather is mustard-yellow and is actually to short for me, but I've got recykleer-plans for it. Beide winkels zijn heel ruim opgezet, met voldoende ruimte om alle meubels, kookgerei, servies, electronica en alle andere spullen die de stichting verkoopt uit te stallen. Het laatste dat ik gekocht heb is een klein borduurdoosje. Ik borduur niet, maar ik zocht naar een doosje om mijn garenklosjes en spoeltjes in te bewaren. De borduurspulletjes die in het doosje zaten waren al oud en heb ik weggegooid.

Both shops are spacious, with enough space to expose all furniture, cooking utensils, tableware, electronics and mutch more that the foundation sells. I bougt one more item, whitch is a small embroidery box. I don't do embroidery, but I was looking for a cute box to keep all my spools and bobbins in. The embroidery stuff that was in the box was old already, and I threw it in the trash can.

Deze twee kringloopwinkels in Zwolle zijn zeker een bezoekje waard als je in de buurt bent. Ik zal snel eens schrijven over een kringloopwinkel in het Noorden van Nederland. Tot later!

Thrift store happiness in Lelystad (NL)

Ik snuister graag rond in kringloopwinkels, zoals ik hier al vaker schreef. Omdat kringloopwinkels in mijn ogen ondergewaardeerd worden en iemand die spullen bij de kringloopwinkel koopt soms een beetje raar aangekeken wordt, heb ik besloten hier op mijn blog regelmatig een kringloopwinkel in het zonnetje te zetten. De primeur is vandaag aan kringloopwinkel De Groene Sluis, aan de Spuiweg 62 in Lelystad.

I like to take a look in thrift stores, as I wrote on this blog before. My opinion is that thrift stores are undervalued, and people who buy things in a thrift store are sometimes frowned upon, so I decided to regularly put a thrift store in the spotlights here on my blog. Today, the scoop is for thrift store De Groene Sluis (The Green Lock), at the Spuiweg 62 in Lelystad.

De Groene Sluis zit in een gebouwtje op een industrieterrein en is makkelijke te bereiken met het openbaar vervoer; vanaf station Lelystad neem je buslijn 1 richting Lelystad haven, je stapt uit bij bushalte Bouwweg en dan is het nog amper 5 minuutjes lopen.
Bij De Groene Sluis staat alles mooi gesorteerd, maar het is er wel erg vol. Op de begane grond vind je kleding, servies, glazen en decoratiemateriaal en op de eerste verdieping zijn alle boeken, cd's, knutselspullen, lampen en overige dingen uitgestald. De vrijwilligers die er werken zijn erg vriendelijk (ik kreeg gratis een stevige tas, om de spullen die ik kocht in mee te nemen!) en de prijzen voor de spullen zijn zeker niet hoog, als is het wel even zoeken naar iets bijzonders.

De Groene Sluis is settled in a small building in the industrial area, and is easily accessable by public transport; from Lelystad train station you take bus number 1 to Lelystad haven, get off at bus stop Bouwweg, and from there it is less than 5 minute walk.
Everything is nicely organized at De Groene Sluis, but it is very packed. On the ground floor you can find clothes, tableware, glasses and decoration material, and on the first floor all the books, cd's, craft supplies, lamps and everything else is displayed. The volunteers working at De Groene Sluis are very friendly (I got a solid bag for free, to carry the things I bought!) and prices for the things are definately not high, but you have to search properly to find something special.

Mijn uiteindelijke opbrengst bestond uit een gróte broodtrommel, kunststof theezak-houdertje, vier kleurige ritsen en een gestoffeerd doosje. Dat doosje komt uit China en binnenin valt in het Chinees te lezen wat er in gezeten heeft. Waarschijnlijk is het een geschenkdoosje geweest met een replica van het terracotta-leger van keizer Quin Shi Huang. Deze Quin Shi Huang was keizer omstreeks 221 v.Chr. en in 1974 zijn er in China zo'n 1400 beelden van het leger van de keizer gevonden. In het doosje dat ik bij de kringloopwinkel vond zaten geen beeldjes meer, maar ik vind het lege doosje minstens zo mooi.

I went home with a large lunch box, plastic teabag-holder, four colorful zippers and an upholstered box. This box was made in China, and you can read on the inside of the box what has been in there. It has probably been a giftbox with a replica of the terracotta army of emperor Quin Shi Huang. This Quin Shi Huang was emperor around 221 BC, and in 1974 there have been found about 1400 images of the army if this emperor in China. In the box which I found at the thrift store weren't any statues anymore, but I think it is just as beautiful.
